Downtown Dickson Christmas events start this weekend

Christmas in Downtown Dickson really begins to “Cratchit” up this Saturday with a Christmas tree lighting, live music, carriage rides and more.

The holiday spirit — the same joy shown by Bob Cratchit and son Tiny Tim in “A Christmas Carol" — is expected to fill the Main Street area for Christmas in Downtown Dickson starting around 3:30 p.m. Saturday when the street closes and activities start. The holiday events continue with the Christmas Parade next week and the new “Reindeer Blitz” the following week.

Christmas in Downtown Dickson

The stores in Downtown Dickson are open later Saturday with a focus on Christmas specials. The tree lighting begins at 5 p.m. at Waychoff Park. The Quest Center students perform live at 6 p.m. Activities are planned 5-9 p.m., including the following:

Carriage rides (line starts at Bank of Dickson)

Train rides (line starts at Clement Museum)

Pictures with Santa (L&K Photography)

Live Nativity and Walk through Bethlehem (The Help Center)

Humane Society Fundraiser, "Santa Paws" (Events on Main)

Downtown Dickson Christmas Parade

The “Let Your Light Shine”-themed Downtown Dickson Christmas Parade starts at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11.

Following the parade, which will follow the traditional downtown route, a Christmas movie will be shown at 8:30 p.m. on Main Street. People are asked to bring lawn chairs and watch the show.

Reindeer Blitz

On Dec. 18, the last Saturday before Christmas Day, folks can see and take photos with live reindeer in addition to visiting with Santa himself. A toy drive, Reindeer Search and Christmas Craw are also part of the festivities, which take place 5-9 p.m.

The live reindeer will be next to Santa’s sleigh 5-7 p.m. in the Mulberry Mill parking lot.
