Downtown businesses ready for Christmas Open House

Nov. 30—Downtown businesses are set to welcome customers as Logansport celebrates the 2022 Downtown Christmas Open House from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday.

The event is hosted by Logan's Landing and will also act as a food drive for The Salvation Army, the Emmaus Mission Center and Pets R Us, formerly known as the Cass County Humane Society.

Food items may be dropped off at The Depot, 421 4th St.

Those who donate food items will be given one ticket for each item donated Thursday evening. They may then use those tickets to enter raffles at participating businesses.

Additional tickets may be purchased for $1 each.

Due to the diets of the dogs and cats at the shelter, Pets R Us is asking for donations of Purina Dog Chow, Purina Cat Chow and Purina Kitten Chow.

Logan's Landing is also hosting a scavenger hunt Thursday evening. Those who wish to participate may pick up the checklist at The Depot beginning at 4 p.m. You do not need to donate anything to partake in the scavenger hunt.

During the scavenger hunt, participants will need to visit businesses and look for a sign with a letter. The signs will have a four digit code. Participants should write down the code next to the corresponding letter on the checklist.

The scavenger hunt winner will receive $250 in Logan's Landing bucks, which can be exchanged for goods at participating downtown businesses. Ten additional prizes of $50 in Logan's Landing bucks will also be awarded. Participants must be 18+ to win prizes.

Many of the 14 businesses will have special events or sales ongoing during the open house.

Schwering Realty invited Santa and Mrs. Claus to be its guests. The jolly pair will be on hand from 4 until 6 p.m. to take pictures with children.

Aly Irvin, owner of Plant Therapy LLC, is winding down on a successful first year and has big plans for the open house, offering customers a $25 gift card if they spend $100. Customers who buy one plant may also purchase a second for 50% off.

If shopping isn't of interest Thursday evening, there are several options to enjoy live music. Bonus Pints will welcome Joe Damrell and offer holiday themed brews. The People's Winery will have $10 Cranberry Craze drinks while Steve Michaels performs, and Mike Almon and June Zinn will play Christmas music from 4 until 6 p.m. at Black Dog Legacy.

Participating businesses and their raffle prize value include Black Dog, $150; Bodyworks/ Empower, $85; Bonus Pints, $60; Fernbaugh's Diamonds & Fine Jewelry, $449; Judy's Goodlife, $200; Minglin Jewelers, $200; The Nest, $300; Pear Tree Gallery, $200; The People's Winery, $65; Pharos-Tribune, $85; Plant Therapy, $50; Sage n Tonic, $100; Schwering Realty, $200 and Yelle's Boutique, $50.
