The Dolphins will try to win a fourth consecutive game by defeating the Panthers on Sunday afternoon at Hard Rock Stadium.

Earlier this week, the Dolphins were 2.5-point underdogs via Tipico, but money has come in on Miami, pushing the line down to only 0.5 points in favor of the Panthers.

If Tua Tagovailoa and Miami can defeat Carolina, they would improve to 5-7 after a 1-7 start, and could even to .500 with wins against upcoming opponents New York Giants and Jets, both games at home.

It should be a seasonable 77 degrees at kickoff. Recent crowds at Hard Rock Stadium have been quite good, with support for Tagovailoa largely unwavering from the majority of Dolphins fans.

12:35 p.m. | Dolphins vs. Panthers predictions

Carolina has cooled off a lot after a torrid start, but the return of Cam Newton has given their offense a spark. Will it be enough to stop Miami's three-game winning streak?

One of our Dolphins reporters says yes. Several other national NFL writers agree: Today could spell trouble for the Dolphins.

11:40 a.m. | Miami Dolphins inactives: Safety Brandon Jones out

Dolphins safety Brandon Jones (ankle/elbow) is inactive for the Dolphins. This puts the onus on veteran Eric Rowe (hip) and rookie Jevon Holland (knee/ankle) to hold down the fort against Cam Newton, Christian McCaffrey and the Panthers.

Other Miami players missing Sunday's game: CB Trill Williams, S Will Parks, LB Darius Hodge, TE Adam Shaheen and DT John Jenkins.

Recently-acquired running back Phillip Lindsey is active. It's hard to say how much he may or may not be able to contribute considering he just arrived.

Also active are running backs Myles Gaskin, Salvon Ahmed and Patrick Laird.

Tight end Hunter Long is active in place of injured Adam Shaheen. Long has barely played this season but has been seen making some nice plays in practice.

Defensively, edge rusher Vince Biegel is active and so perhaps he'll take a few of the snaps injured Brennan Scarlett would have.
