Ravens fans listening to Sunday’s game against the Bengals on the radio heard a strange moment live on air when a fan tried to climb into the radio booth in search of a beverage.

The moment came late in the first quarter on the Bengals’ third drive, and as play-by-play broadcaster Gerry Sandusky described wide receiver Tyler Boyd’s short gain live on 98 Rock and WBAL NewsRadio 1090 AM/101.5 FM, color analyst Obafemi “Femi” Ayanbadejo interrupted in a panic.

“What — what, what, what are you doing?!” Ayanbadejo said with plenty of concern. “What are you doing?”

Nearly 17 seconds of silence ensued until Sandusky continued to broadcast the game and the Bengals’ third-down play. Afterward, Sandusky addressed what happened live on air.

“If you were listening, you heard Femi say ‘What are you doing? What are you doing?’ He was not talking to the players or coaches. We actually had a fan who was trying to climb into the broadcast booth,” Sandusky said. “She said, ‘I’m a veteran and I’m looking for a drink.’”

“Yeah, I don’t serve drinks at the game,” Ayanbadejo responded. “I might make some cocktails at home but this is not the time or place.”

“You just never know what’s going to pop up or who’s going to show up on game day,” Sandusky added.
