When does early voting in New Mexico start? Your voters guide to Otero County elections

Voters in Otero County for the 2022 midterm General Election have choices for how and when they would like to cast their ballot.

"Our office is stoked," Otero County Clerk Robyn Holmes said. "We get excited about this time because we're prepping for everything and every day we have deadlines that we have to meet: hiring poll workers, sending out lists to (political) party chairs, notifying the Secretary of State's Office, just getting everything prepared."

Absentee in-person voting at the Otero County Administration Building, 1101 New York Avenue, runs from 8 a.m. until 5 pm. Monday through Friday from Oct. 11-Nov. 4 and from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5.

Where are early voting locations in Otero County?

Early voting locations and times are:

  • Otero County Fairgrounds, 401 Fairgrounds Road in Alamogordo, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Oct. 22 until Nov. 5 Tuesdays through Saturdays.

  • Inn of the Mountain Gods, 287 Carrizo Canyon Road in Mescalero, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Nov. 2-4.

  • Chaparral Community Center, 427 Ace Ryan Street in Chaparral, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Nov. 3-5.

Mobile voting locations are Tularosa Public Safety Facility, 609 St. Francis Drive in Tularosa, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Oct. 22 and Cloudcroft Council Chambers, 201 Burro Avenue in Cloudcroft, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Oct. 29.

Where are ballot box locations?

Otero County has two secure containers which are required by state statute for the county to have.

These secure container locations are at Otero Clerk's Office, 1104 North White Sands Boulevard Suite C in Alamogordo and at Tularosa Public Safety Facility, 609 5t. Francis Drive in Tularosa.

They open to receive ballots on Oct. 11.

These secure container ballot boxes are under 24-hour security, per state statute.
