The Democratic National Committee (DNC) has launched an ad buy in AAPI outlets across the U.S. in celebration of AAPI Heritage Month.

The new campaign: The ads, which have been translated in traditional Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese, will run over 25 states and territories in more than 50 outlets.

  • “The new campaign underscores DNC Chair Jaime Harrison’s dedication to investing early in communities of color ahead of the 2022 midterm elections,” according to the DNC.

  • “The AAPI community has made tremendous contributions to our nation and were an integral element of Democrats regaining control of the White House and U.S. Senate,” Roger Lau, DNC Deputy Executive Director, said. “The DNC knows in order to maintain and expand upon our success with AAPI voters we need to invest deeply and early.

  • Lau also cited the American Rescue Plan and the passage of the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act as examples of Democrats having “made good on our promises and delivered for the AAPI community.”

  • “These ads show that we’re not done delivering the help the AAPI community needs,” he added.

Collaboration with NextShark: The ads will run on NextShark, prior to the AAPI Heritage Month Town Hall that NextShark will co-present with the DNC on Wednesday, May 26 at 1 p.m. PT or 4 p.m. ET.

  • “The event, to be broadcast on NextShark’s Facebook page, will feature figures in politics, entertainment, and advocacy, including Senator Tammy Duckworth, Representative Grace Meng, DNC Deputy Director Roger Lau, Girls Who Code founder Reshma Saujani, figure skater/activist Emma Tang, entrepreneur/speaker Ziad Ahmed, and more.”

  • Journalist, professor, and former CNN anchor May Lee will be moderating a discussion about the AAPI community on the matters of "representation and mobilization."
