49ers defensive tackle D.J. Jones proposes to girlfriend before MNF game

Plenty of players stay laser-focused in their pregame routines, but San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle D.J. Jones had a great reason to have his mind elsewhere before a matchup with the Cleveland Browns on “Monday Night Football.”

The third-year player proposed to girlfriend, Kayla Fannin, about two hours before kickoff, and she happily said yes.

Jones is in his first season as a full-time starter after the team selected him in the sixth round of the 2017 draft out of Ole Miss. The 24-year-old has four tackles in three games this season, but most of his value comes as a run-stuffing tackle.

Jones’ teammates were thrilled for him, and they’ll be even more thrilled if they can keep their magical season alive. The 49ers are one of two undefeated teams left, along with the 5-0 New England Patriots.

With the College Football Playoff title game located thousands of miles away from the two campuses in Alabama and South Carolina, possible fatigue for fan bases of teams that have become annual participants in the playoff and a game site in an expensive market lacking college football die-hards, prices for tickets for Monday night's championship game in Santa Clara have been plummeting the past few days.
