Dispatch: Coroner called to scene of Penn Hills crash

Jun. 24—One person was killed in an early morning crash in Penn Hills, according to Allegheny County police.

Crews responded to Rodi Road around 12:30 a.m. Thursday for reports of the two vehicle crash, authorities said.

A 27-year-0ld man who was driving a Kia SUV was found dead, police said. His identity has not be released.

His SUV collided with a Chevrolet Cobalt whose driver and passenger were hospitalized in stable condition.

An Allegheny County 911 dispatcher said the medical examiner had been called to the scene. One person self-extricated themselves following the crash, but the extent of their injuries was not immediately known, the dispatcher said.

Rodi Road reopened around 6:30 a.m. after being closed between Stoneledge and Morrow Drives for several hours.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the county police tip line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous.
