In today's modern world, it is so easy to release information to the public that has no accuracy whatsoever. It has been a longstanding issue affecting businesses, individuals, and society. Information online spreads fast, and when this information is not accurate it can have detrimental consequences for many people, particularly on social media. Podcasts are becoming very popular on a lot of streaming sites, giving people more of an opportunity to speak for themselves. Jessy Taylor wants to address these issues alongside many others in her new podcast "the 16th minute".

Over the course of Taylor's career, she believes false information written about her online has given her an unfair reputation, driving her to share her own story with the podcast "the 16th minute". Whilst pursuing her own dreams of becoming successful in the music industry, she was attacked relentlessly by the media throughout 2019. She claims false and misleading information from the media painted her in a negative light. People judge harshly and quickly, and opinions are hard to change, resulting in a huge setback for Taylor, who has also done work on television. Taylor's biggest setback came later when her verified Instagram account (@jessytaylorduh) with a huge following of almost 300,000 people was taken down for unknown reasons. All that hard work stripped away, but she was determined to never give up. Taylor talks about this in her podcast, hoping to inspire those who have been through a similar ordeal.

Taylor knew she needed people to hear from her directly, rather than the media controlling everything. On June 28th, 2021, Taylor released her first episode of her podcast "the 16th minute". The name inspired by the phrase "15 minutes of fame", which she believes she has already lived through. She aims to tell the story of her experiences in the spotlight and rectify what the media has said. On the first episode Jessy Taylor focuses on her experiences being on television sets, and her interesting childhood. Her second episode released this week discusses how to navigate fame and how she wished she had been older to start social media, as she feels it can be very damaging to young adults. One of her main motivations to start up a podcast was to connect with fans more. She believes her audience is more understanding when it comes to the podcast rather than the traditional media.

Taylor doesn't claim to be perfect. She acknowledges on her podcast that she may have said things in the past that may have hurt people's feelings. Taylor said, "I'm not as free as I would like to be when it comes to expressing my voice and I understand how serious words are. I don't want to say something to hurt someone. I'm terrified of cancel culture and I have been cancelled before".

If you are someone who feels they could benefit from Taylor's podcast, you can list now on Spotify podcasts or listen on Instagram.
