Dickinson State Track and Field teams compete at UND Open

Jan. 30—FARGO, N.D. — The Dickinson State University track and field teams traveled to Fargo, N.D. to participate in the UND Open, hosted by the University of North Dakota over the weekend. The Blue Hawk men's and women's teams were eager to show off their skills and make a statement in the competitive field. The results were impressive, with the men's team finishing 13th overall and the women's team coming in at fifth place.

One of the standout performances for the Blue Hawk men's team was from Galen Brantley III in the shot put event. Brantley has been making waves in the North Star Athletic Association and the UND Open was no exception. He threw a personal best of 15.98 meters, which earned him first place among the Blue Hawks and put him at the top of the North Star Athletic Association rankings. This impressive throw also secured his second-best position in Dickinson State history.

The Dickinson State women's team also had a successful outing at the UND Open. Wrenzi Wrzesinski broke her own school record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.65 seconds, which was also a North Star record. This was a fantastic achievement for Wrzesinski, who has been making steady progress in her hurdles events over the past few seasons. Kori Nagel was another standout performer for the Dickinson State women's team. Nagel set a new school record in the shot put with a 14.06-meter throw, which currently ranks her second in the NAIA. She also had a North Star leading throw in the weight throw, measuring 15.87 meters, which qualified her for the "B" standard.
