Dickinson Area Concert Association to launch 2022-23 season with talented Country-Pop quartet

Sep. 30—DICKINSON — Seven decades ago the determined music-lovers in Dickinson and the surrounding communities formed the Dickinson Civic Music Association and sponsored about five concerts each year until the association ceased operations in 1965.

In early 1975, twenty-four citizens met in the Student Senate Room at Dickinson State College to revive a concert association in Dickinson. By 1984 the Concert Association had celebrated its 10th consecutive sold-out season.

Today, the Dickinson Area Concert Association continues its commitment to bringing a wide variety of quality performances to the Dickinson area at an affordable cost. As part of their mission, each year the association hosts its annual concert series.

This year the association will launch its 2022-2023 season on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022, at Dickinson State University's Dorothy Stickney Auditorium at 7:30 p.m., with a phenomenal season opening performance by the dynamic vocals of The Hall Sisters.

The Hall Sisters have established themselves as one of the up-and-coming acts in the country-pop genre, releasing multiple CD's over the last few years and maintaining a robust touring schedule. The historic venues the sisters have performed at continue to grow each year, including notable performances at The Grand Ole Opry, Carnegie Hall and Dollywood. In addition to two Midwest tours, in December 2019, they traveled around four countries in the Balkans on a Christmas tour.

Drawing from inspirational groups of decades past, The Hall Sisters combine their favorite bits and pieces of all those iconic sounds to create a unique sound of their own. "Synergy" defines these young women in that the combined output of their talents and musicality is greater than the sum of each individual part.

The group is composed of Jessica, Natalie, Lydia and Valerie Hall.

Jessica began her musical training in 2005 when her parents encouraged her to pursue her passion and provided the opportunity to express herself musically. Starting with the piano, she has since added guitar and mandolin to her repertoire and skill-set. She produces most of the arrangements for the group, contributing with her beautiful contralto voice.

Natalie began her journey in music by playing violin at the very young age of 9, and hasn't looked back since. She is the violinist for The Hall Sisters and her vibrant, powerful soprano voice adds a level of emotion and a dynamic element to the quartet.

Lydia is known as the tender sister of the group. She grew up playing the viola and started her musical endeavors when she was 9 years old. The rich timbre from her viola playing and her beautiful alto voice provides the perfect complement to the quartet.

Valerie started playing the cello at the age of 10 and quickly took to its unique character and the wide variety of expressions that the cello offers. As the resident cellist, Valerie's skillful instrument playing adds a rich texture and depth to The Hall Sisters sound.

Together the sisters entertain crowds across the globe with their vocal and instrumental harmonies. The Hall Sisters marry stunning harmonies along with a brilliance and excellence on their instruments to create an entirely unique sound.

In addition to a wonderful concert, the Dickinson Area Concert Association asks attendees to join the association during their annual Membership Appreciation Night on Oct. 11, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., in the lobby of Dorothy Stickney Auditorium. Desserts and beverages will be served for all current and new concert association members.
