Game notes: The Tigers enter the series after taking two straight from the Minnesota Twins. Detroit needs one more win with a winning record in July, the third straight month when the Tigers had more wins than losses. Mize, an American League Rookie of the Year candidate, has given up four earned runs and seven hits over 8 2/3 innings (two starts) since the All-Star break. The Orioles just finished a two-game set with the Miami Marlins and pulled off a rare sweep of their rival Washington Nationals. Wells makes the second start and fourth appearance of his career. He pitched 5⅔ innings vs. the Tampa Bay Rays on July 21, giving up three earned runs and striking out seven.
