Detroit Tigers prospect Riley Greene to begin rehab assignment Friday with Low-A Lakeland
Detroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene, fully recovered from a fracture in his right foot, will begin his rehab assignment Friday with Low-A Lakeland, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the situation.
The 21-year-old will play center field Friday for five innings and serve as the designated hitter Saturday for nine innings. After Saturday's game, barring any setbacks, the top prospect will travel Sunday to Columbus, Ohio, and join Triple-A Toledo.
Greene is expected to be in the Mud Hens' lineup for Monday's game against Triple-A Columbus. He is slated to play Monday, Wednesday and Thursday (Tuesday is an off day for Toledo). The timeline for his MLB debut remains unclear.

Another prospect, infielder Ryan Kreidler, is traveling Thursday from Lakeland, Florida, to Toledo, where he is scheduled to return to the Mud Hens' lineup Friday against Triple-A Nashville at Fifth Third Field.
Kreidler, 24, suffered a right hand fracture April 26. He then underwent surgery.
Greene is the Tigers' No. 1 prospect, according to MLB Pipeline, and the No. 2 prospect in baseball. Kreidler is the Tigers' No. 6 prospect and appears lined up to make his MLB debut at some point in 2022.
Greene, who fractured his foot April 1, hit .421 (9-for-21) with three doubles, two triples, two home runs, four RBIs, three walks and six strikeouts across 11 spring training games.
Had it not been for the foot injury, Greene would have made the Tigers' Opening Day roster as the starting center fielder. He will join the Tigers once he completes his rehab assignment.

Before a hit-by-pitch broke Kreidler's hand, he was hitting .246 (16-for-65) with two doubles, four home runs, 12 RBIs, nine walks and 22 strikeouts in 18 games for the Mud Hens.
In Triple-A last season, Kreidler posted a .304 batting average with seven homers in 41 games. Greene played alongside him, hitting .308 with eight homers in 40 games.
