Tuesday's game: Casey Mize delivered just what the Tigers needed with 6⅔ of three-run ball and Jonathan Schoop delivered a two-run homer in the third inning as the Tigers locked up a series victory in Kansas City, 4-3. A night after AJ Hinch had to use nine pitchers over nine innings, he needed just three: Mize, Wily Peralta — a nine-year MLB vet who was called up from Triple-A earlier in the day — for 1⅓ innings and Gregory Soto to close things out in the ninth. Milestone watch: Miguel Cabrera went 2-for-4 with a double to move to 5,001 total bases — good for 22nd all-time — and 585 doubles, tied for 20th all-time (with Rafael Palmeiro). Cabrera has 2,906 hits, 94 away from 3,000, and 492 homers, eight away from 500.
