Game notes: This will be the Wings' second game of the week (they won Wednesday) and the Sabres' fifth (and their second back-to-back since Sunday). These two teams met Nov. 6 in Buffalo, where the Wings won, 4-3, in overtime. That victory stopped a four-game winless streak as Tyler Bertuzzi scored two third-period goals to tie the game. Coming into Saturday, the Wings have won just one of their past five games, though they have picked up points in their past two. That's more than the Sabres can say; they haven't earned a point in 10 days and have given up at least five goals in four straight games.

After the game, Detroit plays Tuesday in Boston vs. the Bruins. Buffalo is home Monday vs. the Seattle Kraken (who then visit Detroit on Wednesday for some cephalopod-on-cephalopod vi.
