When the Pistons hired former Michigan basketball coach John Beilein to Dwane Casey's coaching staff earlier this month, it signaled that more changes were underway as the franchise continues to flesh out its player development program.

Former Celtics assistant Jerome Allen, former Pacers assistant Bill Bayno and former Kings assistant Rex Kalamian are all joining Casey's staff as well, a league source confirmed to the Free Press on Tuesday.

The Pistons are also progressing toward re-signing current assistant coach Sean Sweeney. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski initially reported the news.

At least one more hire will be made before Casey's staff will be completed, a league source told the Free Press.

Allen was an assistant coach with the Celtics since 2015. Prior to that, he was the head coach at Penn for six seasons. After starting at shooting guard at Penn for four seasons from 1991-95, he was drafted in the second round of the 1995 NBA draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves and played in the NBA for two seasons before spending the next 12 years playing professionally overseas.

In October 2018, Allen pleaded guilty for accepting an $18,000 bribe while at Penn. In February 2020, the NCAA handed Penn a two-year probation, and Allen received a 15-year show-cause penalty that will effectively bar him from coaching at the college level until 2035.

Bayno, who had been with the Pacers since 2015, has been coaching at the college or pro level since 1985 and had previous stops with the Toronto Raptors (2013-15), Minnesota Timberwolves (2011-13) and Portland Trail Blazers (2005-08, 2009-11).

Kalamain has been an NBA assistant coach since 1995 with stops with the Kings (2020-21, 2007-09), Los Angeles Clippers (2018-20, 1995-2003), Toronto Raptors (2015-18), Oklahoma City Thunder (2009-15), Minnesota Timberwolves (2005-07) and Denver Nuggets (2004-05).
