Detroit Pistons agree to deals with Cory Joseph, Trey Lyles in free agency

After leading free agency off by signing Kelly Olynyk, the Detroit Pistons kept things rolling Monday by re-signing one of their own free agents and agreeing to terms with another.
The Pistons and Cory Joseph have agreed to a two-year, $10 million contract, and the team will also sign Trey Lyles to a two-year, $5 million contract, a league source confirmed to the Free Press. The moves come two days after the Pistons waived Joseph, who was set to make $12.6 million next season if the team guaranteed his previous contract.

Joseph averaged 12 points and 5.5 assists after arriving to Detroit before the trade deadline, shooting 50.6% overall and 36.8% from 3. He was a mentor to rookie point guard Killian Hayes and the rest of the young players on the roster, and has a longstanding relationship with head coach Dwane Casey dating back to their time with the Toronto Raptors.
Lyles spent the previous two seasons with the San Antonio Spurs and averaged five points, 3.7 rebounds and shot 35% from 3 in 15.6 minutes per game last year. He shot 38.7% from 3 the season prior, giving the Pistons another outside shooter to fortify their spacing.
