Detroit Lions S Tracy Walker carted to locker room, ruled out with ankle injury

MINNEAPOLIS − Tracy Walker missed two days of practice this week for the birth of his son. His return to action Sunday lasted just over two series.

Walker was carted to the locker room with about 5 minutes left in the first quarter of Sunday's Detroit Lions-Minnesota Vikings game after suffering what appeared to be a left leg injury on the second play of the Vikings' third offensive series.

The Lions' leading tackler entering the game, Walker was hurt on a 2-yard run by Dalvin Cook.

He stayed briefly on the field, where he was tended to by trainers and visited by Lions coach Dan Campbell, then limped slowly to the sideline.

After a brief sideline examination, the Lions called for a cart to take Walker to the locker room.

Juju Hughes replaced Walker at safety. Hughes played 19 defensive snaps in the Lions' Week 1 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles after Walker was ejected for two personal fouls.
