The seismic shift in power America has been waiting for became official Wednesday.

The Detroit Lions have a new coach.

Just days after adding Brad Holmes as general manager, the organization announced Wednesday that Dan Campbell will be its head coach. Campbell, a former tight end who played on that faithful 2008 Lions team, returns to Detroit following a coaching stint with the New Orleans Saints.

New Orleans was eliminated Sunday by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, opening the door for the Lions to get Campbell.

Like most decisions made by the franchise, the move was met with a mix of skepticism, pessimism and cautious hope.

Of course Twitter has jokes.

Mildly interesting, considering Holmes signed a five-year deal.

Smart football Twitter strikes again.
