Game notes: The Lions can end two ugly winless streaks with a victory today. Detroit has not won a regular season game since Dec. 6, 2020 and hasn't beaten Minnesota in eight games. The last time the Lions won vs. the Vikings, Matthew Stafford topped Case Keenum on Oct. 1, 2017 for Detroit to move to 3-1. Yup, that means Kirk Cousins has never lost to the Lions since leaving Washington in 2017.

Cousins this season is taking care of the ball at an elite level (just three interceptions in 406 attempts; one coming vs. the Lions) while averaging the most yards per game (273.9) since 2016 (307.3). Don't be surprised if Sunday's matchup is close: Every game Minnesota has played this season has been decided by eight points or fewer, except for a Week 3 win vs. Seattle. The Vikings beat the Lions, 19-17, on Oct. 10 via a last-second field goal. Detroit will need to do a better job this time around against Justin Jefferson, who had seven catches for 124 yards. The Vikings will be without former Pro Bowler Dalvin Cook this week — but they didn't have the star running back last matchup either and his backup, Alexander Mattison, bruised the Lions over 32 touches for 113 yards rushing and 40 yards receiving. In that loss, Amon-Ra St. Brown had seven catches for 65 yards and D'Andre Swift ran for 51 yards and a touchdown, but the latter won't play Sunday.
