Democracy in the U.S. is in dire straits

I write with mixed emotions.

I was thrilled to see the turnout of 250 plus people at the Bans Off Our Bodies Rally in Gig Harbor, sponsored by Gig Harbor Indivisible on Saturday. Many of us female gray hairs were there as well as men in our age bracket, young men and women, youth, families with children. The responses of drivers were 99% positive. Friends, neighbors: we are in the fight for our lives to defend democracy, to defend human rights.

I am saddened to see a part of our society wanting to have it only their way...to take away choice not only in reproductive health but other areas of our government: voting rights, education rights, worker rights, our environment, Citizens United...the list goes on.

Write your elected officials, contribute to candidates whose values reflect your own, help with a campaign, sign up to get information from an Indivisible Group near you. Democracy in the U.S. is in dire straits.

With deep respect for democracy: of the people, by the people, and for the people,
