Demarius Foster rushes for 306 yards, 3 touchdowns in Dorman football win over Greenville

ROEBUCK — It was Demarius Foster's world, and the Greenville High defense was just living in it.

As he streaked down the field for a 73-yard touchdown run, one that gave Dorman a lead it wouldn't lose against the Red Raiders, he showed maturity, age and another level of burst.

Last season Foster broke onto the scene with 269 rushing yards in a Week 5 performance for the ages. So to start the season he decided just to one-up it Friday at Cavalier Stadium. In a 53-28 win at home over Greenville, Foster rushed for 306 yards, with a 73-yard touchdown run capping an all-time night. He carried the ball 20 times, averaging 15.3 yards a carry and scored three times on the ground.

"I want to thank my (offensive) line," Foster said. "They did what they supposed to do — what they known to do. The best O-line in the state. I'll say that. My 306 yards wouldn't be (there) without 'em."

It became clear that Foster's night was destined to be big early on: At the half he had 149 rushing yards on 11 carries.

"From the jump we just knew we could dominate upfront," South Carolina commit and four-star Dorman lineman Markee Anderson said. "We did a lot of zone, a lot of inside runs. They just couldn't handle it."

The win is Dustin Curtis's first after he followed up legendary Dorman coach Dave Gutshall following his retirement from the Cavalier football program. Curtis also avenged a loss that ended his tenure at AC Flora, when the Red Raiders defeated the Falcons 27-26 in the Class AAAA playoffs last season.

What we saw from Greenville High

Red Raider sophomore Jordan Sink threw for 251 yards and two scores as the starter for Greenville, he is seemingly the replacement for longtime starter Prometheus Franklin, who is at S.C. State now.

The Red Raider offense struggled in the second-half of the game after putting up 21 points in the first half and trailing 29-21 at the break.

A blocked punt that was recovered by Dorman's Johnathan Frazier and a busted coverage that led to a 74 yard catch and run TD by Dorman wideout DJ Porter were inevitably the difference -- The Red Raider defense struggled to stop the run game of Dorman and it wore them down in the second half.

Tyler Brown, a three-star and Minnesota commit had 81 receiving yards and one score. Mazeo Bennett, the top Class of 2024 wide receiver from South Carolina, per 247Sports Composite, had four catches for 51 yards.
