Daycap and Dunkin'

Happy Thursday, shoppers and diners!

For those of you with eagle eyes, you may have noticed a missing Wednesday column this week. That's because I am working on a news story, so I simply needed to prioritize my time. There will also be no column next Wednesday, but there will be a Sunday column this upcoming weekend and next week, so I'm trying not to leave ya'll completely out to dry.

Because, let's face it, fall is a busy time for restaurants and shopping (especially because students are now back in town).

Let's get to it.

All day breakfast and espresso martinis on tap? Yes plz.

🥓 The owners of Common Spirits in Goshen now bring you Daycap, a restaurant that features all day breakfast, lunch and signature cocktails. Open Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays through Sundays, the new restaurant is located next door to Common Spirits on Lincoln Avenue near the courthouse. Subscribers can check out more details about what led owners to open the space.

☕ The new Dunkin' at 2774 Lincoln Way E. near Capital Avenue has opened in Mishawaka. According to a social media post, the coffee and doughnut shop opened Saturday, Aug. 27, on the north side of the street next to the Mishawaka Inn. The new building offers two drive-thru lanes and a small interior space for pickups.

🚧 Also happening in Twin Branch are plans for a larger developments. In June, developers proposed to city officials to convert the hotel into a 60-unit studio apartment building in the project's first phase, with plans to build a second building on the four-acre site for 46 one- and two-bedroom apartments in the future. A Wendy's drive-thru restaurant is being built at the former Pizza Hut site on the southern side of the street, and Barnaby's Pizza is still working on opening its third location at the former Mancino's location at 4304 Lincoln Way E.

🐟 Clark's Fish Net and More has temporarily closed as the business relocates to a new space. The fish and barbecue restaurant opened in 2020 at 1802 S. Main St. in South Bend and, in a recent social media post, said it will be relocating to 1702 S. Michigan St. A reopening date was not immediately clear, but operators encouraged customers to stay up to date on its opening plans through its Facebook page.

🛒 And the University Park Mall continues to see several changes to its stores. Ben's Pretzels has reopened its booth after undergoing a small redesign. Ben's co-founder Brian Krider said final touches are still being made while they wait for pieces to come in. New Locker Room by Lids has opened to the former Bev's Boutique space near the food court. The store features sports memorabilia. Clothing store Daily Thread has opened inside the former Disney space, and also now open is jewelry store Light House Boutique and influencer studio Selfie Zone. The former Lavelier and Trade Home Shoes storefronts next to Yankee Candle are under construction, but what will fill the space remains unclear.

I'm curious ― how do you feel about the frequent store changes the mall has undergone in recent years? Let me know.

As always, thanks for reading and have a wonderful weekend!
