David Schwimmer hints 'Friends' reunion filming could begin next month

Friends star David Schwimmer has said the show's upcoming reunion could be shooting as soon as next month.

The non-scripted special was set to arrive on the HBO Max streaming platform in May last year but filming had to be pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The actor, who played Ross Gellar on the hugely popular sitcom, shared the news on SiriusXM’s Radio Andy as he said: “It’s happening. Actually, in a little over a month I’m heading out to LA.

“So, finally, I mean, we figured out a way to film it safely and there’s going to be a portion of it that we filmed outside because of, you know, for safety protocols.”

The host for the long-awaited reunion has not yet been revealed but Schwimmer did put to bed some speculation on who it could be.

“I can tell you it’s not Ellen and it’s not Billy Crystal,” he said. “I can tell you who it’s not, but that’ll take a while, probably.”

Schwimmer is set to appear in the episode alongside co-stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and Matthew Perry.

Phoebe Buffay star Kudrow shared earlier this year that she had "already shot a little something" for the show.

Giving more detail about what fans could expect, she said: "It's not, like, a scripted thing. We're not portraying our characters.

“It's us getting together, which just doesn't happen a lot and has never happened in front of other people since 2004 when we stopped.”

The beloved programme ran for 10 seasons from 1994 until it came to an end in 2004.
