David Fry, strong pitching lead Columbus Clippers to 3-2 win over Iowa Cubs
Saturday's game: Clippers 3, Cubs 2
Recap: David Fry went 2 for 3 with three RBIs to lead Columbus. Fry hit a two-run home run in the second and scored Bobby Bradley on a sacrifice fly in the fourth. Four Clippers pitchers held the Cubs to three hits, including a two-run homer by Nelson Velazquez in the fourth. Starter Tanner Tully (4-0) allowed three hits in 5 2/3 innings. Robert Broom, Anthony Castro and Alex Young held Iowa hitless the rest of the way.
Of note: The Clippers added outfielder Richie Palacios, who was optioned from the Guardians, and put outfielder Anthony Alford on the temporary inactive list.
