David Cameron has responded to allegations he put his private parts in a pig’s mouth when he was a student.
In 2015, a biography of the then-Prime Minister by Lord Ashcroft and Isabel Oakeshott alleged an unnamed MP, who was a contemporary of Mr Cameron, had said photos existed of the incident that was said to have taken place when Mr Cameron was at Oxford University.
In his new autobiography, ‘For The Record’, Mr Cameron responds to the claims for the first time.
“My first reaction wasn’t anger or embarrassment or worry about the impact. It was hilarity,” he writes.
“I couldn’t believe someone could be so stupid as to research and write a book about me and include a story which was both false and ludicrous.
“Anyone who chooses a career in politics requires a thick skin and a sense of humour.”
Mr Cameron has also revealed the moment a member of the public shouted a “pig reference” at him in front of one of his children.
He told LBC host Nick Ferrari: "I was walking along the street with Elwen, my son, the other day and someone shouted a pig-based remark, if I can put it that way.
"Elwen is a sweet boy and people up til then had been saying some friendly things and he sort of turned to me and said, 'Don't worry, Dad. On the whole people have been pretty friendly today'. Apart from the pig.”
