Asian celebrities and activists took to Twitter on Friday to share their thoughts on the Kyle Rittenhouse shooting trial after a jury in Kenosha found him not guilty on all counts.
Background: The 18-year-old was on trial this month after fatally shooting two people and wounding another with an AR-15 rifle during the Black Lives Matter protests against police brutality in August 2020.
The then-17-year-old traveled about 20 miles to Wisconsin from his Illinois home carrying the semi-automatic rifle and claiming to protect property from unrest after the police shooting of Jacob Blake.
Rittenhouse “feared for his life” as he was attacked by rioters, his defense lawyer told jurors.
He was found not guilty of two counts of homicide in the fatal shooting of Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber, one count of attempted homicide for wounding Gaige Grosskreutz, and two counts of reckless endangerment, and other lesser charges.
Reactions: Rittenhouse’s verdict did not sit well with many on social media.
Justice denied is a body blow to our national psyche. On trial was not only a killer, but a system that continues to kill.
Today that system defeated true justice, once again. But mark these words: We will never stop fighting for what is right and just.

Disgusted. And what a dangerous precedent to set. (Or upkeep, really) They’re going to make him a cop aren’t they? https://t.co/Ns7qRgQ411 pic.twitter.com/dlHHijExPo

We’re not asking you to shoot guilty white people the way you shoot innocent black people, we’re asking you to protect innocent black people the way you protect guilty white people.

Others expressed their support.
I already said this, but I hope Kyle Rittenhouse sues every media pundit, politician, activist, celebrity, and elitist into financial oblivion for trying to destroy his life.
