Footballer Kevin Kilbane has been confirmed as the third contestant to take part in the new series of Dancing On Ice.

Kilbane, who is also a pundit on Match of the Day, revealed the exciting news during an appearance on Talksport Radio.

Speaking about his impending appearance on the ice, Kilbane said: “I am going on as a total novice.

“I'm starting from scratch here. This is going to be a massive challenge for me.”

He added: “I've been taking it easy for the last few years since I finished (football) so let's just see how this one goes.”

The footballer joins Love Island star Maura Higgins and TV presenter Michael Barrymore in the line up.

Higgins, who made the announcement during an appearance on This Morning on Tuesday 24 September, admitted that she had only ice skated twice in her life.

“I don’t want to let anyone down...I need someone strict I think because otherwise I'll throw a strop and lay on the floor,” she added.

“I'm looking forward to meeting Holly and Phil. I'm very excited...it's performance time!"

The new series, which launches in January 2020, will also see John Barrowman sitting on the judging panel following Jason Gardiner’s decision to step down.

Expressing his excitement over joining the show, Barrowman said: “I am so excited to be returning to the Dancing On Ice family.

“Unlike most I have been through the rigorous task of skating live as a contestant in the first series.

“This is a thrilling adventure for me and I hope to bring a Fresh, Fun and Fab-u-lous angle to the judging panel.”
