Here are the top three stories today in Dallas:

  1. As temperatures drop this weekend, a Dallas group will help those who need shelter. OurCalling will coordinate with other service providers to ensure any available beds are filled. The Weather Service predicts Dallas temperatures will drop into the low 20s on the weekend. (KERA News)

  2. Dallas Police are looking to hire experienced officers. They are hiring Laterals, who would go through the Lateral Entry Academy for about 12 weeks rather than the usual 36. The department is offering incentives including differential pay, language pay, paid holidays and more. (CW33 NewsFix)

  3. East Dallas' historic Mrs. Baird's Bakery rises again and made it to Best of 2021 list. Mrs Baird's resonates with people on a deep level and demonstrates that it only takes one person to make a difference in historic preservation. (candysdirt.com)
