Dakota Johnson discusses viral video where she appears to spot Johnny Depp’s injured finger

Actor Dakota Johnson has commented on a video that went viral during the recent defamation case between Johnny Depp and his ex-wife, Amber Heard. In the clip, Johnson appears to notice Depp's injured finger during a press conference - which he claimed in court was a result of having had a vodka bottle thrown at him - and asks him what happened.
In response, it appears that Depp makes a joke which Johnson initially laughs at and then perhaps looks somewhat doubtful over. In one iteration, the video was uploaded to YouTube with the title 'The EXACT moment Dakota Johnson KNEW Amber Heard was VIOLENT towards Johnny Depp' and viewed over 3 million times, before making its way around TikTok.
Speaking about the clip now, Johnson says in a new Vanity Fair interview that the entire trial was an incredibly sad event to witness and she's confused as to how or why her name was brought into the media circus surrounding it.
"I was like 'For the love of God, why? Why am I involved in this?'," she remarked. "I don’t remember that [moment] at all, but please, take me out of this. Don't let this go further."
Johnson also added that she had brief concerns she could be called upon as a witness. "Can you imagine, oh, my God, if I was called to the witness stand? I can't believe that people are watching [the trial] like it's a show. It's like it's a courtroom drama and my heart breaks. It's so, so, so crazy. Humans are so fucking weird. The internet is a wild, wild place."
She also shared her thoughts on cancel culture generally, which Heard now appears to be feeling the wrath of.
"What I struggle with in terms of cancel culture is the term cancel culture – the whole concept behind canceling a human being, like they’re an appointment. No person will not make mistakes in their life. The point of being alive is figuring it out. Hurting other people, harming other people is not okay. There are consequences for those actions. But the concept of the Twitterverse deciding if someone just all of a sudden doesn’t exist anymore is horrifying, heartbreaking, and wrong.
"I do think that it will pass. I believe that people want to live in a better world, ultimately. Also, Twitter makes up like, what, 12 percent of the world? I mean, some of these people can’t even spell."
Depp ended up winning his defamation suit against Heard and the court ruled she must pay her ex-partner $8 million, however Heard is set to appeal against this.
