The Cypress Bay wrestling team, coached by Allen Held, won the Storm Front Duals at Celebration High School in Kissimmee.
The Lightning beat Lakeland Kathleen 66-7, DeLand 54-27, Ridge Community 78-0, and Avon Park 70-6.
In the finals, Cypress Bay edged Hagerty 38-36. Winners for that match for the Lightning were 106 Andrew Punzalan; 126 Gabriel Herrero; 138 Jack Spurlock; 145 Rafael Diniz; 152 Zach Weidler; 220 Jared Campbell; 285 Gozie Mosi.

The Somerset Academy (Pembroke Pines) wrestling team, coached by Joe Blasucci, won the John Joyce Memorial Tournament at North Port High School.
The 2021 state champion Panthers were down four starters but still managed to win another close tournament, capped off with two bookend champions: 106 Lincoln Sledzianowski and 285 Matthew Jimenez.
Entering the 285 finals, Somerset trailed by 4.5 points to Fort Myers-Riverdale. Jimenez started slow but scored four takedowns in the third to secure the major decision win (16-7) and give the Panthers the team title by half a point.

The Columbus boys’ basketball team will play Norland for the GMAC Championship at Jackson High School on Thursday. In the semifinals, Columbus beat Southridge, and Norland beat Palmetto,
BOYS: GMAC Semifinal: Columbus 58, Southridge 40: The Explorers (20-2) out scored Southridge 19-5 in the fourth quarter to seal the win. Columbus had nine points in the third quarter as Southridge cut the six-point Columbus halftime lead to four.
Cameron and Cayden Boozer increased the lead to 10 within the first minute of the fourth quarter. A defensive stop and a Kevin Noriega three-pointer increased the advantage to 13. Southridge’s Koree Cotton made a foul shot, but then Cayden Boozer hit a quick turn-around basket and a Garyn Bess sank a three-pointer to give the Explorers a 17-point lead with 3:52 remaining.
After a Southridge time out, two free throws from Koree Cotton and an up-and-under layup from Matthew Mairena completed the Southridge scoring. Cameron Boozer closed the show for Columbus with a punctuating dunk. The Explorers defense in the fourth quarter -- forcing turnovers, blocking shots, grabbing rebounds -- keyed the effort.
Cameron Boozer finished with 21 points and 17 rebounds, and twin brother Cayden produced 19 points and nine rebounds. Mister Dean had 20 points for Southridge, all in the first three quarters. Cotton had 12 points, and point guard Matthew Mairena added eight points.

Cameron Boozer celebrated the return of twin brother Cayden, after Cayden missed the previous game with a leg injury, by scoring 32 points. Cayden Boozer, Garyn Bess and Benny Fragela each had 12 points.
