Cyclist injured in crash remains critical

Mar. 7—TRIAD — Authorities have identified the bicyclist who was seriously injured in a Thursday hit-and-run crash and have identified a suspect vehicle.

The victim, Javier Alexander Estrada-Ochoa, 18, of Thomasville, remained in critical condition Saturday at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, the N.C. State Highway Patrol said.

Based on evidence at the scene, the highway patrol says the suspect vehicle was a gray or silver 2007 to 2008 Dodge pickup truck. The vehicle will have damage to the front right area and a right headlight is missing.

The highway patrol said Estrada-Ochoa was traveling north on Fuller Mill Road just before 8:30 p.m. Thursday when the bicycle was hit from behind near Reddy Foxx Lane by a vehicle that also was traveling north. The driver of the vehicle that hit the bicycle did not remain at the scene.
