Crowds Gather at Imran Khan Residence in Islamabad

Police in Pakistan charged the country’s former Prime Minister, Imran Khan, under anti-terror laws, on Monday, August 22, for allegedly threatening a female judge and senior police officials at a public rally, local media said.

Khan threatened to file cases against police officials at a rally in Islamabad on Saturday, according to a report by Dawn. The former prime minister reportedly said judge Zeba Chaudhry, who had approved two-day physical remand of Khan’s close aide, would “face dire consequences” for her actions.

A lawyer for Khan said on Monday that “he cannot even approach the relevant court” as Khan’s residence in Bani Gala had been surrounded by a crowd, Dawn reported. Khan was granted pre-arrest bail by theIslamabad High Court until Thursday.
