The first trailer for the upcoming thriller Crisis has been released, starring Armie Hammer, Gary Oldman and Michelle Rodriguez.

Set against the backdrop of the opioid epidemic, Crisis stars Hammer as an agent named Jake Kelly. He is tracking down a drug trafficker that arranged a Fentanyl smuggling operation between Canada and America.

The trailer arrives in the wake of Hammer being embroiled in a social media scandal in recent weeks.

Hammer was forced to step away from his role opposite Jennifer Lopez in the forthcoming feature Shotgun Wedding after alleged direct messages surfaced that alluded to misconduct on the actor's part. Some of the actor's messages, which appeared flirtatious, mentioned cannibalism.

The messages, according to Page Six, were leaked by an anonymous social media account by the name House of Effie. In them, Hammer appeared to be outlining some graphic sexual fantasies.

In a statement, Hammer said: “I’m not responding to these bulls**t claims, but in light of the vicious and spurious online attacks against me, I cannot in good conscience now leave my children for four months to shoot a film in the Dominican Republic. Lionsgate is supporting me in this and I’m grateful to them for that.”

Last week, Hammer was spoken to by police about a controversial “stolen” video from his private Instagram account.

The video showed Hammer with an unidentified woman positioned on all-fours on a bed.

In the clip, which the actor said was “stolen” from his account, Hammer could be heard explaining to the camera that he had to travel to the Cayman Islands.

“Which sucks”, he said, before adding: “Except there are a few silver linings. Like f***ing Miss Cayman again while I’m down there.”
