Crash-rescue training held at St. Augustine airport

First responders will participate in a training exercise at 9:30 a.m. today at the Northeast Florida Regional Airport. The exercise will involve St. Johns County Fire Rescue and St. Johns County Sheriff's Office officials.

"Responders will be faced with an aircraft crash scenario consisting of a commercial aircraft carrying 20 to 30 passengers that crashed during an emergency landing. Responders will encounter multiple victims, fire and smoke," according to fire rescue. "Crews will operate and respond as if this is an actual incident, including mitigating the crash site and treatment and transporting of multiple patients suffering from significant traumatic injuries."
