Crash leads to extrication of motorist

Mar. 5—HIGH POINT — A motorist had to be extracted from a vehicle in a two-car crash at a heavily traveled intersection in north High Point Thursday morning.

Just before 10 a.m., the driver of a Chevrolet Tahoe going west on Wendover Avenue ran the red light at the intersection with Penny Road and struck the passenger side of a minivan that had been going east on Wendover and turning left onto Penny, according to High Point police.

The collision caused the minivan to turn over on its side. The driver of the minivan had to be extracted from the vehicle, then was taken to Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro to be evaluated for minor injuries, according to police.

The driver of the Tahoe was charged with a red light violation. Speed wasn't a factor in the crash, police told The High Point Enterprise.

The names of the motorists weren't released as of late Thursday afternoon.
