Crash closed Route 3 west in Clifton, causing delays

A crash on Route 3 westbound closed all lanes in that direction in Clifton Wednesday night, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation.

The department first reported the crash at 7:23 p.m., stating all westbound lanes were closed due to the incident and caused 10-15 minute delays.

An unknown number of people were injured in the accident, though Lt. Robert Bracken of the Clifton Police Department described the injuries as non-life threatening, adding the event was "more of a traffic mess than anything."

As of 8:45 p.m., the department said delays were still causing heavy traffic between Ridge Road in Rutherford and Main Avenue in Clifton.
