Art reception and justice system discussion: Tonight at 5 p.m. Reception for Deferred Dreams art pieces created by South Dakota inmatesat the Aberdeen Recreation and Cultural Center gallery, 225 Third Ave. S.E. Reception is 5-7 p.m. Discussion to follow from 7-9 p.m. on the impact the justice system has on everyone. Art is on display through Dec. 29.

Tales from the Charred Underbelly of the Yule Log: Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Aberdeen Capitol Theatre, 415 S. Main St. Presented by master storyteller Kevin Kling, who is best known for his popular commentaries on National Public Radio's "All Things Considered," this show shares stories that are heartwarming and hilarious with a focus on holidays and family. Tickets are $20 for ACT subscribers, $22 in advance and $24 at the door. Presentation College Craft Fair: Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Strode Center, 1500 N. Main St.

Santa Day in Groton: Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at Professional Management Services, 111 N. Main St., Groton. A photographer will be there to capture moments with Santa and email a free image to each family.

Fort Sisseton Frontier Christmas: Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Fort Sisseton Historic State Park, 11907 434 Ave. Lake City. Enjoy crafts, homemade bread, hands-on activities, sleigh rides, caroling, roasted chestnuts, historic reenactments and more. Lunch is $5 and served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

James Valley Model Railroad Association Open House: Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Historic Milwaukee Depot Basement, 10 Railroad Ave. S.W. Free admission. Check out rooms full of model railroads of varying scales and designs. Scenes are changed and updated every year.

Holiday Celebration: Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the Aberdeen Civic Arena. Youth of all ages welcome to participate in fun holiday activities including Christmas crafts and games, face painting, candle making, cookie decorating and pinatas. Santa will also be making an appearance along with The Talking Christmas Tree.
