COVID-19 in Summit County: Hospitalizations continue to climb at Akron-area hospitals

Summit County hospitals are continuing to report increasing numbers of patients hospitalized with COVID-19.

On Monday, 281 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 in Summit County hospitals, an increase from 276 on Friday and the largest number since 296 on Dec. 18.

Hospitalizations included 130 at Summa Health hospitals, 109 at Cleveland Clinic Akron General, 33 at Western Reserve Hospital in Cuyahoga Falls and nine at Akron Children's Hospital.

Statewide, 4,922 new COVID-19 cases were reported on Monday, according to the Ohio Department of Health. That's below the 21-day average of 6,072 new cases.
