Valentine’s Day weddings

County officials said 42 couples were wed on Valentine’s Day 2022, one of the year's busiest days for wedding ceremonies.

In 2021, the county clerk performed 4,197 ceremonies, averaging 16 marriage ceremonies performed per workday.

A lot of couples choose a city government wedding followed by a significant event later on when the timing is better, or they’ve saved enough for their dream wedding, according to the wedding site Lovingly.

Military couples, couples who have small kids or are expecting a baby, long-distance couples, and people planning a destination wedding traditionally choose to wed at city hall or local government offices.

Whether you think Valentine’s Day is the most romantic day of the year or the corniest day of the year—it’s a very popular day for weddings.

Here are a few positive things, courtesy of Lovingly, about getting married on Valentine’s Day:

  • It makes the holiday more personal.

  • You’ll never forget your anniversary

  • A Valentine’s Day anniversary is an excellent excuse for a winter getaway

  • It can make a practical choice a little more personal

  • If you can’t wed on Valentine’s Day, you can get your marriage license.
