Council announces vendors for Arts on Elm

Apr. 10—LUMBERTON — The Robeson County Arts Council has revealed its list of vendors for the fifth installment of Arts on Elm.

After a two-year hiatus, the event will be at a new location April 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. That location is Third and Water streets in downtown Lumberton.

The decision to switch locations was motivated by the dual desires to avoid spreading COVID-19 in the Elm Street community and to stage the arts celebration simultaneously with the Lumberton Food Truck Festival, which will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in downtown Lumberton. In addition to food, the event will include vendors and live entertainment.

Twenty-seven vendors are expected to set up during Arts on Elm. They include painters, potters, wood burners, basket weavers and jewelry designers and nonprofit organizations, among others.

Vendors scheduled to participate are Farm Road Creations, Sandi Carter Jewelry & Clay, Robert Gable Pottery, Melvin McLaurin Woodburning, Locklear's Vinyl & Such, Grace and Ella Creations, Basket Buddies, Black Water Soap Works, Candice Noel Revels Candied Pecans, Southern Bell, Jaelyn Deese Beaded Jewelry, Basking Turtle Designs, Brianna Goodwin Artistry, Seasonally Speaking, Jessica Mullins Rainbows, TZBEEZ, Kay's Kreations, Hursto Presto, Lumbee Outfitters/Nonna's Naturals, Brittany Chavis Handcrafts, Bangles by Britney, Kay Bradsher Art, Joy's Clay Creations, Diannee Hunt Face Painting, Robeson County Humane Society, Robeson County Extension Volunteers and Kiwanis Young Professionals.

Named after historic Elm Street, the Arts Council established the event as a way to showcase the works of local artists and to promote the idea of buying and selling local, handmade goods. Vendors would display their works along the road and sidewalks, and even in the yards and on the porches of residences on the one-way portion of Elm Street between 15th and 10th streets.

Live demonstrations and kids activities will be part of this year's event.

Safety measures will be in place to limit the risk of exposure to COVID-19 for attendees and vendors. Masks must be worn and handwashing stations will be set up throughout the event.
