Cougars fall to Bloomfield in OT

Feb. 3—BLOOMFIELD — Bloomfield's Peter Combs played superhero on Thursday evening at Ron McBride Court as the senior hit a shot in the lane as the buzzer sounded to give his Bloomfield Cardinals a thrilling 49-47 double overtime win versus the visiting North Daviess Cougars.

Class A's No. 1-ranked team got a game-high 28 points from Combs, their 6-6" lefty centerpiece, and the Cards survived inside Guy Glover Gymnasium to pick up their second straight SWIAC win against ND.

The Cougars moved in front 42-38 and had possession of the ball with five minutes to go in the fourth quarter but could not maintain the lead.

Jaylen Mullen led North Daviess (16-4) with 21 points; however, he missed a three at the buzzer that would have won the contest in regulation.

North Daviess won the JV game 55-36.

The Cougars travel to Class 3A No.10 Connersville for a Saturday matinee date at the Spartan Bowl. The reserve tip is set for 1 p.m. with the varsity affair to follow.
