Coshocton authorities handle weekend crashes

COSHOCTON — The Coshocton County Sheriff's Office handled five significant traffic crashes over the holiday weekend.

Authorities reported a motorcycle striking a deer at 7 p.m. Monday in the 20000 block of Ohio 79 in Perry Township. The bike was driven by Bobbie O'Brien, 57, of Heath. After striking the deer, she went off the right side of the road into the grass, laying the motorcycle down which overturned.

O'Briend was flown from the scene by MedFlight to Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus for treatment of unknown injuries. She was listed in serious condition at the hospital on Tuesday morning.

Assisting on scene were Coshocton County Emergency Medical Services and Walhonding Valley Fire District.

Sunday crashes

Authorities said at 11:25 p.m. Sunday a two-vehicle crash was reported at the intersection of Ohio 83 and Ohio 643 in Keene Township. It was determined that Devin Coblentz, 22, of Millersburg, was traveling south on Ohio 643 in a 2012 Dodge Ram while Marcus White, 29, of Millersburg, was traveling north on Ohio 83 in a 2011 Ford pickup truck.

Deputies said Coblentz ran a stop sign at the intersection and struck the truck. After impact, the Dodge struck a trailer being pulled by the truck, spun around backwards and went over an embankment. The pick up truck also went over an embankment into a field.

Coblentz was transported to Coshocton Regional Medical Center and then to Grant Medical Center in Columbus by medical helicopter for treatment of unknown injuries. Grant did not have him listed as a patient Tuesday morning. Tiffany Holstein, 30, of Coshocton, and two juveniles in the Dodge were also transported to CRMC for treatment. White was treated and released on scene.

Assisting were Three Rivers Fire District, Coshocton County EMS, Prince's Wrecker Service and REACT.

At 12:22 a.m. Sunday a single-vehicle crash was reported in the 32000 block of County Road 368 in Tiverton Township. Chelsey Rasor, 33, of Mount Vernon was traveling east when she drove off the roadway and into a ditch. Rasor was not injured. Assisting on scene were Walhonding Valley Fire District, Coshocton County EMS and Prince's Wrecker Service.

Saturday crashes

The first on Saturday occurred at 12:30 a.m. in the 44000 block of U.S. 36 in Bethlehem Township. Authorities said Melissa McCloy, 37, of Coshocton, was traveling east when she lost control of her vehicle and went off the left side of the road to strike a bush.

McCloy nor two juveniles in the vehicle were injured. Assisting on scene were Walhonding Valley Fire District, Coshocton County EMS and Prince's Wrecker Service.

The second on Saturday occurred at 2:40 p.m. in the 3000 block of County Road 16 in Tuscarawas Township. Authorities said Christopher D. Cavey Jr., 25, of Coshocton, was traveling west when he lost control of his 2013 Yahama FZ6R motorcycle. He went off the right side of the road into a ditch.

Cavey was treated for minor injuries on scene by Coshocton County Emergency Medical Services. Also assisting was the Coshocton Fire Department.
