CORRECTION: Augusta Armory vaccine clinic to close by end of week
Jan. 24—The vaccination clinic at the Augusta Armory will close by the end of the week, after offering COVID-19 vaccines and boosters for nearly two months.
The clinic has administered more than 10,600 vaccines, according to the Portland Press Herald.
The Augusta Armory location will continue to be open for walk-in appointments this Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and this Thursday from noon to 7 p.m.
The clinic plans to continue to offer PCR testing through February, according to the Press Herald.
PCR testing will be available on Wednesday and Friday of this week from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with an appointment.
The vaccine clinic aspect of the Augusta location is closing down due to a decrease in demand for vaccinations or booster shots since the clinic's opening in December, Robert Long, a spokesperson for the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention told the Portland newspaper.
However, he noted that the Maine CDC is continuing to work to ensure that Mainers continue to have access to COVID shots and boosters.
