Coronavirus vaccination clinic opens at Boulder County Fairgrounds

Jan. 20—Nomi Health has partnered with Boulder County Public Health to open a drive-through coronavirus vaccination clinic at the Boulder County Fairgrounds in an effort to meet a surge in demand for vaccinations brought on by rapidly increasing cases.

Vaccinations are free and the drive-through clinic is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, according to a news release from BCPH. Appointments for vaccination are required and can be made at boco.org/covidvaccines.

The clinic will offer first and second doses as well as booster vaccinations from Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson, the release said. Children 5 years and older are eligible to get the Pfizer vaccine. Boosters are available for children 12 and older, five months after their final dose in their primary vaccination series. Parental consent is required for anyone 17 and under.

Bilingual staff can assist Spanish speakers, and the site is accessible for people with disabilities. Community members with a language or an online access barrier who wish to register, can reach the Boulder County Call Center from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday at 720-776-0822.

Colorado officials remain concerned about hospital capacity as positive case numbers increase, the release said. Vaccines are the safest, most effective way to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to reduce hospitalizations and deaths from the virus. The public also is urged to practice prevention by wearing masks in indoor public spaces and avoiding large crowds.

"We are collaborating with Boulder County Public Health to help support health care systems already overwhelmed by patient demand, especially for vulnerable populations who need this vital service," said Harold Delasalas, national medical director for Nomi Health, in the news release.

In addition to Boulder, Nomi Health offers COVID-19 first and second shots as well as booster doses at vaccination clinic sites in Aurora, Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Glenwood Springs, Rifle and many other locations. Additional locations are available at comassvax.org.
