Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Following recent Coronation Street episodes which saw Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) take a stand on women's rights at her school after the upskirting scandal, tonight (January 21) proved the protest a success.

After Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) discovered Max Turner (Paddy Bever) looking at the upskirting photos of her on his phone, Amy took matters into her own hands to investigate the perpetrator.

Let down by how Weatherfield High School was handling the issues of upskirting and sexual harassment, it later led to Amy and Summer sparking a silent protest to ensure girls' safety at school.

Angered after Mrs Crawshaw suggested "temporary preemptive" measures – that is, girls switch to wearing shorts – while the matter got investigated, Summer and Amy protested during Daniel's class, where Mrs Crawshaw was shocked to find no pupils in attendance.

Upon discovering Amy and Summer were spearheading a protest against the upskirters, Daniel secretly phoned the Gazette in support. He earlier counselled Mrs Crawshaw that her "temporary" resolve would only shift blame and not benefit the girls.

Later, when the reporter from the Gazette arrived at the protest, Mrs Crawshaw capitulated and announced to the crowd that all students will be made to attend consent workshops and Amy's suspension was revoked, in which the protestors cheered.

As the student protestors celebrated in Speed Daal, Daniel congratulated them on their victory, in which Asha reckoned the anonymous tip-off to the Gazette really helped.

Success for Summer and Amy at last.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7.30pm on ITV.
