Portage County residents needing a place to get out of the heat on  Wednesday have at least three options.

Cooling stations will be operating at three locations:

• Ravenna Center of Hope, 1081 W. Main Street in Ravenna,  from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

• Kent Social Services, 1066 S. Water St. in Kent, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

• The Haven of Portage County, 2645 Route 59, on both Wednesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

These locations are open two anyone needing a place to go to be safe from the heat and are free.

As of Wednesday morning, the National Weather Service is forecasting a high air temperature of 93 degrees, with a heat index of 105 degrees. A heat advisory is in effect for the region from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

In addition, the NWS has issued an air quality alert until midnight.

"Air quality levels will be unhealthy for sensitive groups during this period," states the alert. "If you are in the sensitive groups category of children, the elderly and those with breathing difficulties, please monitor your outdoor activity and check air quality readings at airnow.gov. Additionally, sign-up at enviroflash.info for text alerts regarding air quality."
