Pembroke Pines kidnapping suspect and teen girl found in Washington, D.C. suburb, cops say

An abduction odyssey starting in Pembroke Pines and lasting 24 hours ended just outside the nation’s capital, according to Pines police.

They say they learned at 12:40 a.m. Monday that Virginia State Police found West Palm Beach’s Jaddier Sanchez and 18-year-old Nicole Martinez of Pembroke Pines in Alexandria, Virginia, a city of people who bike, drive and Metro daily over the Potomac River to jobs in Washington, D.C.

Police say Nicole Martinez, 18, was found with Jaddier Sanchez in Alexandria, Virginia. She was treated for minor injuries.

Sanchez was taken into custody, Pines police say, while Martinez was taken to the hospital to deal with minor injuries. They were in the 2007 Dodge Ram pickup truck that cops say Sanchez, 37, stole from Martinez’s mother and father after leaving them along the side of the road in Belle Glade on Sunday.

A Sunday drive with a felon

Pines police say Martinez’s parents, who know Sanchez through their daughter, said he took them at gunpoint when they came back to their home around 12:30 a.m. Sunday. After driving the entire family around on an ATM cash withdrawal tour Sunday in the Dodge Ram, Martinez’s parents told police, Sanchez took the daughter and the truck but left the parents in Belle Glade.

They were picked up by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Whatever charges come from this for Sanchez, who has “ATM” tattooed on his throat area, will be added to November charges of being a hit-and-run driver, driving with an expired license, resisting an officer without violence and trespassing.
