Contractor hits gas line in Rockport, prompting shutdown of service in some areas

Gas services are shut down in the Rockport area after a contractor hit a 4-inch main gas line, the city of Rockport said in a news release Saturday night.

The contractor hit the gas line in the vicinity of Isles of Rockport. Personnel are shutting down gas services in Isles of Rockport, La Buena Vida and City by the Sea, the news release stated.

When the repairs are made, city workers will assist with door-to-door re-lights. Staff is hoping to have service restored within 24 hours, barring any further complications.
