Here are the companies Yahoo Finance is watching today.

GM (GM) is reporting a strong quarter, thanks in part to big sales of full-size pickup trucks. The automaker beat on earnings and came in roughly in-line on revenue. The CFO says they predict the second-half of the year will be stronger than the first half -- and they plan to launch even more pickups in the coming months.

A big quarter at the parent company of KFC, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut. Yum! Brands (YUM) beat on earnings and revenue thanks to blow-out sales at all three of its big brands. Same-store sales at Taco Bell topped 7%, while KFC was up 6%. They also saw a 2% increase at Pizza Hut, which has been lagging.

Kellogg (K) is selling a lot of Corn Flakes. The company reported net sales were up 3% year-over-year, but operating profits fell about 4% thanks to rising costs and restructuring expenses. Still, the CEO says the quarter is proof that their growth strategy is working.

After IBM’s (IBM) $34 billion acquisition of software company Red Hat, the two are finally ready to start working together. IBM is announcing that 100 of its products will now run on Red Hat’s OpenShift platform under a newly created software called CloudPaks. This new integration could give IBM a chance to catch up to rivals like Amazon and Microsoft.
